Course Description

Explore the important role of the multifidi and develop practical techniques for working with these deep spinal muscles. This hands-on course includes an anatomy review of their origins, insertions, and actions; discussion of indications and the importance of client feedback; instructor demonstration; and guided practice time. Students will be able to describe multifidus attachments, layered relationships and actions, locate the multifidus region using bony landmarks, compare prone, side-lying and seated access, and choose positioning based on comfort and goal, and demonstrate at least two approaches (compression and longitudinal gliding using fingers or tools) with appropriate dose.

Students should plan to bring:

  • Sheet set including face cradle cover or pillowcase
  • Blanket (optional)
  • Emollient
  • Hospital grade disinfectant spray or wipes
